750-Plus Acres Added To State Park Provides Access To Appalachian Trail Two several-hundred-acre land parcels have been added to a popular state park spanning two counties in the Hudson Valley, officials announced.  In an announcement on Thursday, Oct. 3, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul revealed the addition of 763 acres to Clarence Fahnestock Memorial State Park in Putnam and Dutchess counties.  The added acres will go towards meeting the state's goal of conserving 30 percent of its land and waters by 2030, Hochul said. Not So Fast: Wanted Fisherman Tries Fleeing From Capital Region Cops In Rideshare, Police Say In hindsight, it probably wasn’t the most efficient means of escape. A Greene County fisherman found himself in handcuffs after he allegedly attempted to flee from police in a rideshare vehicle. The incident happened Tuesday, July 2, along Catskill Creek in the town of Durham.  Officers with the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) spotted a man and woman fishing and asked for their fishing licenses. According to the agency, the man did not have an ID and gave them the name and birthdate of someone else with an active fishing license.  A check of his motorcycle’s …

ID Released For Fisherman Who Drowned In Capital Region Pond Authorities are investigating after a fisherman was found dead in a pond in the region. Emergency crews in Washington County were called at around 4:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, about a man who had failed to return home from a fishing trip. Following a search, crews located the man’s body in Clarks Pond in the town of Jackson. On Monday, Nov. 6, New York State Police identified him as 61-year-old Marc Luther, of Wilton in Saratoga County. An investigation determined that Luther entered Clarks Pond in a kayak to go fishing.
