Gunshots, Then Crash: Car Slams Into Capital Region Home After Shooting Police are asking for tips after two people opened fire on a car in the region, causing the vehicle to crash into a house. The incident happened at around 9:45 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, in Schenectady, near Eastern and Elmer avenues. Schenectady Police said the vehicle was driving near the former Elmer Avenue Elementary School campus when two suspects walking nearby shot at the car. The driver then lost control and drove onto a lawn before crashing into the home’s front porch. Nobody was injured in the ordeal, police said. The suspects fled on foot.
