Not So Fast: Wanted Fisherman Tries Fleeing From Capital Region Cops In Rideshare, Police Say In hindsight, it probably wasn’t the most efficient means of escape. A Greene County fisherman found himself in handcuffs after he allegedly attempted to flee from police in a rideshare vehicle. The incident happened Tuesday, July 2, along Catskill Creek in the town of Durham.  Officers with the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) spotted a man and woman fishing and asked for their fishing licenses. According to the agency, the man did not have an ID and gave them the name and birthdate of someone else with an active fishing license.  A check of his motorcycle’s …

East Greenbush Resident Joseph Viola Missing 2 Weeks Police are asking for help in locating a man from the region who has been missing for two weeks. Rensselaer County resident Joseph Viola, of East Greenbush, was last seen at his Rhode Island Avenue residence at around 10:40 p.m. Thursday, April 25. East Greenbush Police are asking anyone who lives in the area to share home surveillance video that may have captured Viola’s movements. It happened around 2 a.m. Saturday, March 23, in Rensselaer County on I-90 in the town of East Greenbush. An investigation determined a tractor-trailer struck the vehicle that the two troopers were in from behind. The troopers were at the scene after responding to an earlier crash. Daniel Hammon, of Albany, was arrested on a warrant Thursday, Oct. 19, in connection with the July 2023 incident on I-90 in Rensselaer County. An Albany County Sheriff’s deputy was chasing Hammon on I-90 in East Greenbush on July 25, 2023, when a State Police trooper began assisting in the pursuit.
