Threat Of Bombs At Hudson Valley Mall Leads To Evacuation, Search, Police Say
A busy Sunday at a mall in the region quickly turned to fear when officials began evacuating the building due to a bomb threat. The incident took place in Dutchess County at the Poughkeepsie Galleria on Sunday, Oct. 29 just before 2 p.m. Capt. Michael O'Dowd of the town of Poughkeepsie Police said 911 received a call reporting that bombs had been placed at the Galleria. The call was immediately transferred to town police who responded and met with Galleria management and the decision was made to evacuate the building as a precaution, O'Dowd said. Motorist Killed In Hudson Valley Crash With SUV
One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash in the region. It took place in Dutchess County in the town of Poughkeepsie around 5:40 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19 on Violet Avenue at the intersection with Spring Street. According to Lt. A homecoming high school football game in the region was postponed because of a threat of gun violence. The threat was received several hours before the varsity contest in Dutchess County between rivals John Jay of East Fishkill and host Roy C. Ketcham in Wappingers Falls was scheduled to start Friday night, Oct. 20. Worker Critical After 40-Foot Fall Through Skylight At Hudson Valley School
A construction worker is in critical condition after falling some 40 feet through a skylight at a Hudson Valley middle school. The incident took place in Dutchess County around 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 2 at the Union Vale Middle School in Lagrangeville. According to Det. Sgt. Adam Harris of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, the man was working on the skylight when he fell. After several busloads of migrants and asylum seekers arrived in a Hudson Valley town without warning, the county has been granted a temporary restraining order barring more. The unidentified woman was found in Dutchess County around 10 a.m., Monday, April 10 near the Mid-Hudson Bridge and the city of Poughkeepsie. Authorities have released the identity of a 17-year-old boy who died after falling through the ice at a state park. Dutchess County resident Noah Thompson, of Amenia, was found about 2:50 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, after police responded to the Taconic State Park on Shagroy Road in the Town of North East for a report of someone who had fallen through the ice.
