As cooler weather has moved in across New York state, cases of flu have already become widespread. State health officials say the pesky, and sometimes deadly, virus is rapidly ramping up with 44 counties reporting flu cases in the first weeks of October. A polio case identified in New York may be the "tip of the iceberg," the state's health commissioner is now saying. Dr. Mary T. State health officials have confirmed the first case of monkeypox outside New York City has been diagnosed in a patient in the region. The infected person is located in Sullivan County, the first case beyond NYC, the New York State Department of Health announced on Tuesday, June 7.
