Stranded, Seething: 2.5K Southwest Flight Cancellations Leave Passengers In Post-Christmas Mess
More than 2,500 Southwest Airlines flights were canceled and 8,3072 delayed as of Wednesday, Dec. 28, leaving even more passengers across the US stranded and seething. Processes and computer systems that haven't changed since the 1990s are to blame, Captain Casey Murray, the president of the Southwest Airlines Pilots Association, tells CNN. “It’s phones, it’s computers, it’s processing power, it’s the programs used to connect us to airplanes," he said, "that’s where the problem lies, and it’s systemic throughout the whole airline." The federal government said it plans on investigating. Cu…

Caught In Historic Blizzard, NY Mom, Kids Find Overnight Refuge At Target Store (Photos)
Jessica Sypniewski was a mom on a mission: to find some place, any place, where she and her boyfriend, along with their 11-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son, could take refuge from the blinding snow and howling winds of a historic, deadly blizzard that had barreled down in western New York just before Christmas, and lasting days. The 33-year-old Erie County resident, of West Seneca, told Daily Voice the family had set out Friday morning, Dec. 23, to pick up a relative on the other side of town. On the way back, however, they found themselves caught in one of the worst winter storms the r…

Sports Schmear? NY Bagel Shop Owner Denies Harassing Customers Over Mets Gear
Kent Strickland welcomes all types of patrons at his Long Island bagel shop, and yes, he told Daily Voice, that even includes Mets fans. That’s why Strickland, who has owned Miller Place Bagels & Deli in Miller Place, on Route 25A, for four-and-a-half years, was baffled to see a recent post on the Facebook group, Long Island Foodies. “What do you think about an owner of a business harassing customers for wearing a hat of a sports team he doesn’t like and demanding you take it off?” reads a post from Amy Lee, of Stony Brook, that has garnered nearly 400 comments. “The first time he did…

Bed Bath & Beyond is being accused of cutting air conditioning in its stores in an attempt to lower company expenses, according to a new report from CNN. The news outlet said in a report on Tuesday, June 28, that Bank of America conducted store visits and found that the stores are cutting the AC to try to recover for lower sales. Representatives for Bed Bath & Beyond told CNN that "... no Bed Bath & Beyond stores were directed to adjust their air conditioning and there have been no corporate policy changes in regard to utilities usage." CNN reported that the analysts from Bank …
