Dozens of asylum seekers have arrived in the Capital Region as part of New York City’s plan to temporarily house hundreds of migrants in hotels across the region. On Monday evening, May 29, a bus of approximately 40 male asylum seekers arrived at the Ramada Hotel in Albany, located on Watervliet Avenue, “at the direction of New York City,” a city spokesperson confirmed to Daily Voice. County In Hudson Valley Granted Temporary Restraining Order Barring More Migrants
After several busloads of migrants and asylum seekers arrived in a Hudson Valley town without warning, the county has been granted a temporary restraining order barring more. Dutchess County was granted the order by Dutchess County Supreme Court Judge Maria Rosa on Tuesday, May 23, said Dutchess County Executive William O'Neil. A Hudson Valley county has filed two lawsuits to stop New York City from sending its homeless migrants and asylum seekers to the county. The lawsuits, asking for restraining orders, were filed on Friday, May 12, in Orange County on behalf of the county, said Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus.
