Duo's Stolen Joyride Ends In Pursuit, Crash In Capital Region, Police Say
A 17-year-old boy and a second defendant are accused of stealing a car and leading police on a chase before crashing in the region. The Saratoga County incident began around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, when a resident reported their car stolen from the driveway of their Saratoga Springs home. Officers spotted the vehicle a short time later on Circular Street and initiated a traffic stop, but the driver refused to pull over. A 17-year-old boy is facing charges in connection with a string of thefts in the region stemming from online classifieds. The Albany teen is accused of stealing at least six iPhones after arranging to meet the victims on Facebook Marketplace, according to Albany Police. On six separate occasions between August and September 2023, police responded to several calls where the victims agreed to meet the suspect at a specified location to sell an iPhone or iPad they had posted for sale online. Teens Busted With AR-15 Rifle, Handgun In Capital District, Police Say
Two 16-and-17-year-old boys are facing charges after they were allegedly busted carrying loaded guns in the Capital District. Albany Police said they spotted the teens at around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, as the boys walked near McCrossin Avenue and Thornton Street in Albany. When detectives tried to stop the teens as part of an ongoing investigation, they took off running, police said.
