The Galloway Township Police Department announced the arrest of 51-year-old Matthew Shriver in a news release on Tuesday, Nov. 19. The Brigantine man was a co-owner of Everest Gymnastics and Tumbling Center in Galloway Township.

The investigation began after officers received a report regarding the abuse accusations. Police said they obtained cell phone evidence that corroborated the victim’s statements.

This evidence led to search warrants for Shriver’s phone, personal vehicle, and the gymnastics facility. Additional evidence was discovered during the searches and Shriver was arrested on Sunday, Nov. 17.

Everest Gymnastics posted a letter to families on Facebook, saying Shriver was no longer associated with the studio.

"All ties are cut, and he will no longer be permitted to be on or within close proximity of the business," Everest Gymnastics said. "We would like to recognize that the sole owner, Jennifer Jones does not stand for this behavior. We take pride in what we do in this community. And we hope that you continue to see that as we’ve done since 2017."

Shriver was charged with first- and second-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest, tampering with physical evidence, and obstruction of justice. He was held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility to await a court appearance.

Anyone with information about Shriver should call Galloway police at 609-652-3705.
