Elishama Louis, 20, died from her injuries on Monday, Oct. 14, five days after being struck on Delsea Drive near the Riggins and Wawa gas stations, police in Franklin Township said.

Louis was hospitalized and placed on life support for several days before she was declared brain dead by doctors, her family said on a GoFundMe campaign.

The third of five children, Louis was a "fiery young girl, vibrant, bold, and not afraid to speak up," her obituary on the Pancoast Funeral Home website says.

Smart and never a morning person, Louis had hoped to follow in her mother's footsteps to pursue a culinary career, the obituary says.

"She loved to cook. She would dedicate Fridays to creating new, tasty, and sweet treats," her obit says. "She would have the whole family taste her cooking and give their opinions on how to make the treats more savory."

Haitian patties were her favorite.

This year, Louis dedicated her life to the Lord and was baptized: "She wanted to live a renewed and upright life with the Lord. Throughout these past few months, it was very evident that the Lord was working in her. Her character began to transform and she became a refined servant of God."

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information about it should call Franklin Township police at 856-694-1415, ext. 171.

As of press time, more than $1,900 had been raised for Louis' family. Click here to donate and here for Louis' complete obituary.
