Former Cape May Boy Scout Volunteer Who Sexually Assaulted Child Sentenced, Prosecutors Say
A North Cape May man who was once a Boy Scouts of America volunteer will spend more than two decades in prison for sexually assaulting a child, authorities said. John Gillespie Jr., 37, was sentenced on Friday, Oct. 18 to 25 years in state prison, Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland said in a news release. Gillespie pleaded guilty on Friday, July 12 to first-degree aggravated sexual assault and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. Rocky Gannon, Decorated WWII Fighter Pilot From Ocean City, Dies At 99
An Ocean City native who was a decorated fighter pilot and World War II veteran has died. Roland "Rocky" Gannon "passed quietly and peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by family" on Tuesday, June 4, according to his obituary. He was 99 years old. Gannon was born on a kitchen table in a house without electricity or running water in Palermo, NJ on Sunday, Mar. 8, 1925. He was the youngest of five children. Ex-NJ Boy Scouts Worker, 70, Admits Trafficking Child Porn, Recording Kids In Bathroom: Feds
𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘: A 70-year-old former New Jersey Boy Scout camp employee admitted secretly recording videos of children using bathrooms there, federal authorities said. William Mickel was employed by the Boy Scouts of America in Morris County when he trafficked videos and still images of child sex abuse via email, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger said.
