A man robbed two women at gunpoint last week in Newark, authorities said. On Wednesday, June 19 at 3:23 p.m., police responded to the 500 block of Orange Street after a person attempted to snatch a woman's purse, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said. When the woman resisted, the suspect brandished a firearm and she surrendered her purse, Fragé said. The suspect then fled westbound on Orange Street toward East Orange. A couple was shot at by an attempted robber man in North Bergen on the early morning of Tuesday, June 18, authorities said. At 2:35 a.m., officers responded to 76th Street and Bergenline and met with a couple who said they were getting off a bus when a man dressed in a track suit ran up to them from behind, put a gun to the boyfriend and demanded what he had on him, North Bergen police said. Man Shot In Newark: Police
A man was shot in Newark on the evening of Saturday, June 16, authorities said. At 7:33 p.m., officers responded to Van Vechten Street near Hanford Street and found a man who had been shot, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. The man was transported to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition, Fragé said. The shooting remains under investigation.

Staten Island Motorcyclist, 27, Killed In Route 287 Crash
A 27-year-old motorcyclist from Staten Island died in a weekend crash on Route 287 in Somerset County, authorities said. Durmish Golesh was heading north on a Kawasaki when he rear-ended a Hyundai, overturned, and struck the back of an Infiniti around 11:25 a.m. on Saturday, June 15 in Far Hills, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said. Golesh was thrown from the bike and died, Lebron said. No other injuries were reported and the crash remains under investigation.
