Police have identified the two people killed in a three-vehicle crash on a Newark bridge over the weekend. Anaji Ryan, of Carteret, was driving a Ford Focus which collided with a Dodge Durango and Subaru Outback on the Raymond Boulevard Bridge in the city’s Ironbound section around 4 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. A 21-year-old accused killer from Newark and Phillipsburg flashed a huge grin as authorities snapped his photo during processing. Zyion Williams-Jones is accused of shooting Darryl Craft at midnight on Monday, Sept. 2 at Bergen Street and Chadwick Avenue, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. A 26-year-old Bloomfield woman was shot and killed in a Newark supermarket on Wednesday, Sept. 18, authorities said. Nakiyyah Blue was found unresponsive having suffered gunshot wounds in the store on the 300 block of South 7th Street around 8:45 p.m., Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Vehicle Crashes Into Pole After Driver Suffers Medical Emergency: Newark PD
A man was hospitalized after he experienced a medical emergency while driving and crashed into a pole in Newark on the morning of Thursday, Aug. 8, authorities said. At 11:10 a.m., police responded to a vehicle colliding with a pole at Lyons Avenue and Hobson Street, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. The man driving the vehicle had a medical emergency and he was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation, Fragé said. No other injuries have been reported and the crash remains under investigation, Fragé said.

A man was found fatally stabbed in Newark on the morning of Friday, July 5, authorities said. At 3:30 a.m., police found the unresponsive man suffering from stab wounds at Magazine and Ferry Street in the Ironbound section of the city, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Frage said. A 25-year-old Newark resident has been identified as the victim in a fatal shooting on Thursday June 13, authorities said. At 9 p.m., Newark police responded to Boys Park at Sussex Avenue and Duryea Street and located Raymeer Tarver suffering from gunshot wounds near a basketball court in the park, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Frage said. Tarver was taken to University Hospital and pronounced dead soon after, Stephens and Frage said. A 27-year-old Newark resident was fatally shot in a double shooting on the evening of Tuesday June 4, authorities said. ShopRite Cashier Pepper Sprayed: Newark PD
A cashier at ShopRite was pepper sprayed by a 17-year-old in Newark on Thursday May 23, authorities said. At 12:20 p.m., the cashier was pepper sprayed following an altercation with the 17-year-old at the ShopRite on Springfield Avenue, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. The cashier was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and is in stable condition, Fragé said. The juvenile was arrested and faces charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and harassment, Fragé said.

Student Brought Gun To School, Newark PD Says
A 16-year-old student was detained by police after he brought a handgun to a Newark school on Tuesday, May 14, authorities said. At 10:26 a.m., police responded to the KIPP Newark Collegiate Academy after a student was found to be in possession of a handgun, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. School officials turned the handgun over to responding officers, Fragé said. The 16-year-old male was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon by a minor, Fragé said.
