Police have identified the suspected DUI driver who left three people injured while trying to make a U-turn before a crash early Sunday, Sept. 15 on Route 3. Justin R. Latorre, of Newark, has been charged with assault by auto by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office after his 2022 Ford Ranger collided with a 2018 Honda HRV in the westbound lanes around 5:10 a.m., Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. Eight people were hospitalized in a series of Route 3 crashes — one of which involved emergency response vehicles — early Tuesday, Sept. 10 in East Rutherford, police said. Police were called to the westbound side of the roadway just after 6 a.m. for a crash involving a white 2015 Land Rover that had lost control and struck a light pole and a guard rail, Police Capt. Authorities have identified the truck driver killed in the crash and explosion earlier this week on Route 3 in Clifton. Luis Santiago, 55, of Linden, was operating the commercial truck that clipped an NJ Transit bus carrying 29 passengers in the eastbound lanes Monday morning, July 22, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. A Linden man was killed when his tractor-trailer crashed and exploded in Clifton, authorities said. The truck crashed into a barrier and caught fire on Route 3 West near Valley Road and Grove Street at around 9:07 a.m. on Monday, July 22, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes said in a news release.
