Police have provided an update in the evacuation of the American Dream Mall in East Rutherford Tuesday evening, Oct. 8. Just after 5:30 p.m., American Dream security saw a Tesla legally parked on the ground level of the C parking deck with the driver’s side door left open and unattended, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said. As part of the protective measures, two American Dream K-9 units conducted initial sweeps of the vehicle, which resulted in a positive alert. Motorcyclist, 39, Killed In Sussex County Crash
A 39-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a Sussex County crash over the weekend. Frank Jimeno, of West New York, was heading north on Route 23 on a KTM motorcycle when he veered off the side of the roadway to the right and struck a guardrail in Montague Township at milepost 50 Sunday, Oct. 6 around 10:30 a.m., New Jersey State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said. Jimeno died as a result of the crash, which remains under investigation.

2 Motorcyclists Hospitalized With Serious Injuries In Route 80 Crash
A pair of motorcyclists were hospitalized with serious injuries when one struck the other on Route 80 in Warren County on Saturday, Oct. 5. The Kawasaki and Aprilia motorcycle were traveling east on Route 80 when the 33-year-old Aprilla operator struck the rear of the Kawasaki around 6 p.m. at milepost 12.6 in Hope Township, New Jersey State Polie Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said. Both operators were thrown from their bikes and taken to the hospital, one by medevac and the other by ground, with serious injuries. Thieves Wanted After Jewelry Stolen At NJ Turnpike Rest Area, State Police Say
Troopers were looking for three men suspected of stealing jewelry from a vehicle at a New Jersey Turnpike rest stop in Mercer County, authorities said. State police shared three photos of the suspects in a Facebook post on Friday, Oct. 4. Unlicensed Driver, 25, Wanted In Deadly Fourth Of July Crash On Route 287: Prosecutor
A 25-year-old New York woman has been named "Fugitive of the Month" in one New Jersey county. Angely Betancourt has been charged with reckless death by auto and causing death while driving unlicensed in the July 4, 2022 crash that left one person dead on Route 287 southbound access ramp to Route 78 west in Bedminster, the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office said. The crash, which happened just before 12:25 p.m., was investigated by New Jersey State Police. The department did not immediately return Daily Voice's request for comment.

PA Motorcyclist, 43, Dies In Route 78 Crash In NJ
A 43-year-old motorcyclist from Pennsylvania was killed in a crash on Route 78 in New Jersey, police said. Rayvaughn Webster, of Easton, was heading west on a Harley Davidson when the motorcycle overturned around 9:45 p.m. at milepost 48 in Springfield Township, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Charles Marchan said. Webster died as a result of the crash, which remains under investigation.

Troopers Won't Be Charged For South Jersey Man's Death In Police Custody, AG's Office Says
No state troopers will face criminal charges after a Millville man died while in police custody, authorities said. A state grand jury voted to not file any charges related to the death of 30-year-old Daniel King, the state Office of the Attorney General said in a news release on Monday, Oct. 1. A 40-year-old driver was going more than 100 miles per hour, was more than twice the legal limit, and had amphetamine and THC in his system at the time of the February 2024 crash that killed his 38-year-old passenger, authorities said. A 21-year-old Paterson resident was arrested and charged on Wednesday, Sept. 25 for shooting a 56-year-old Paterson man in June, authorities said. Pedestrian Struck, Seriously Injured On Garden State Parkway
A pedestrian was hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by a camper on the Garden State Parkway, authorities said. The Ford E350 Camper was heading south when it struck the unidentified pedestrian walking in the roadway at milepost 145.2 in Irvington around 8:05 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Charles Marchan said. The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital. The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information is available.
