Police in Union Township are seeking help identifying a hit-and-run driver who left a pedestrian critical. A 54-year-old Union City man is in critical condition after he was struck a motorcycle in a hit and run crash in West New York on Saturday, Aug. 17, authorities said. At 3:40 p.m., West New York police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a motorcycle on Bergenline Avenue and 57th Street and found the victim with life-threatening injurie, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Two people died and two others were injured in a crash early Sunday morning, Aug. 18 in Paterson, authorities said. A motor vehicle carrying four occupants crashed into a pole just after 4 a.m. on Route 20 and 18th Street, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In- Charge Isa Abbassi said. A person is critical condition after a shooting in Newark on the early morning of Saturday Aug. 10, authorities said. The person was shot in the head on the 800 block of Elizabeth Avenue at around 1:50 a.m., the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. Authorities have identified a Keansburg man shot and killed by police while wielding a chainsaw, along with the officers involved in the Memorial Day incident.
