Accident Kills Victim Pinned Between Shipping Container, Building Wall In Newark: Cops Police in Newark are investigating an accident that killed a man pinned between a shipping container and a building's wall Tuesday, June 25. Firefighters were called to a business on the 200 block of Frelinghuysen Avenue around 3:55 p.m., Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. No serious injuries were immediately reported when a Dodge RAM pickup truck t-boned a GMC Yukon at the corner of Broadway and Irvington Street, next to the NJ Transit tracks, shortly after 8:30 a.m. Saturday, June 15. Double Shooting Leaves 1 Dead In Newark, Prosecutor Says A 27-year-old Newark resident was fatally shot in a double shooting on the evening of Tuesday June 4, authorities said. At 9:30 p.m., police responded to the 200 block of South Orange Avenue and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Frage said. Pedestrian, 41, Killed By Car On Route 1&9, Police Say A 41-year-old Winfield Park man was killed after he was struck by a vehicle in Linden on the early morning of Wednesday, June 5, authorities said. At 1:20 a.m., police responded to S. Wood Avenue and Routes 1 and 9 on a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle, Linden police said in a release.  The pedestrian was crossing Route 1 and 9 when he was struck by a 2021 Honda Civic traveling southbound, police said.
