A professor at Essex County College in Newark was arrested and charged on Monday, Dec. 23 with criminal sexual contact against a student, authorities said. The mayor of one New Jersey town is facing weapons offenses for an incident that happened in a high school parking lot, police said. Linwood police released a statement saying only that Erland V. Chau, 72, was charged with harassment, disorderly conduct, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose stemming from an incident in the Mainland Regional High School on Oct. 1.
