Phony-baloney: Allendale Resident’s Tale Of Tangling With Home Invader Not True, Police Charge An Allendale resident who told police he fought off an intruder who forced his way into his condo apparently made it all up, authorities said. Police from surrounding towns and a Bergen County sheriff’s K-9 unit converged on Trotters Lane and West Orchard Street after Deryck Smith, a 31-year-old graphic designer, reported the alleged home invasion around 10 a.m. this past Monday, Chief Michael T. Manhunt: Intruder Tangles With Allendale Resident, Flees Officers converged on an Allendale neighborhood on Monday after a resident apparently tangled with an intruder who forced his way into a home, authorities said. Allendale Pedestrian, 63, Struck By Pickup An Allendale pedestrian was hospitalized after being struck by a pickup truck Friday night, authorities said. The 63-year-old woman was crossing West Orchard Street when she was struck by a Dodge Ram turning left off Franklin Turnpike shortly before 6:45 p.m., Police Chief George Scherb said. She was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with undetermined injuries, Scherb said. The 23-year-old male driver, who also lives in the borough, remained at the scene.
