Southwest Airlines Laying Off 15% Of Workforce In 'Unprecedented' Corporate Overhaul Southwest Airlines is cutting 1,750 jobs as part of a restructuring plan to streamline operations and reduce corporate costs. Southwest announced the layoffs for about 15 percent of the airline's corporate workforce in a news release on Monday, Feb. 17. The job cuts, which will be finalized by mid-2025, primarily affect corporate leadership and support roles. Eleven senior leadership positions, including vice presidents and directors, are also being eliminated. NJ Students' Spring Break Plans Fouled By Airline Cancellations: Reports Foul weather in Florida was blamed for wrecking spring break travel plans for many New Jersey high school students, as originally reported by NJ Advance Media. FlightAware, a website that tracks flights, noted major disruptions at several Florida airports, including in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa and Orlando, as well as in Baltimore and New York, among others. More than 3,500 US flights were canceled nationwide, according to The Associated Press. Cold Front Coming With Snow Possible In Pre-Thanksgiving Storm, Forecasters Say Meteorologists have released a more detailed forecast of the storm systems heading to the East Coast in the days leading up to Thanksgiving (scroll down to see where snow is possible). Monday will be cloudy and -- if there's precipitation -- it will likely be light rain in New Jersey, according to the National Weather Service. High winds are expected with the coldest air of the season moving into the region in the evening, AccuWeather reports.
