Car Carrier Into Overpass Shuts Route 53 In Denville
Route 53 southbound in Denville was closed after a car carrier hit an overpass Monday afternoon. The accident with the Route 46 overpass occurred around 2:50 p.m. just ahead of the Bloomfield Avenue intersection. Lanes remained closed as of 3 p.m.

Vertical Hold: Dump Truck Trailer Gets Wedged Under Route 17 Overpass In Mahwah
Two heavy-duty wreckers working back-to-back were needed to remove a dump truck trailer that jammed both a Route 17 overpass in Mahwah and the northbound Tuesday evening rush. The driver received a careless driving summons after the 4:40 p.m. mishap at the MacArthur Boulevard overpass, which left only one passable lane on the highway a little over two miles south of the Rockland County border. State Troopers, Firefighters, Others Hurt In Chain-Reaction Crash On 280 In West Orange
A number of first responders were injured in a chain-reaction crash on Route 280 in West Orange Tuesday morning. Three New Jersey State Police troopers, two West Orange police officers and five township firefighters were among several people injured Tuesday morning when a dump truck plowed into an ambulance, sending it crashing into a fire engine, authorities said. A traffic signal continued to work Thursday afternoon after it got topped by a tractor-trailer in Hawthorne. Utility Lines Down Again On Route 17, This Time In Upper Saddle River
UPDATE: Highway traffic wasn't affected, but some businesses were after a tractor-trailer yanked down utility lines Tuesday afternoon on northbound Route 17 in Upper Saddle River. The 2:30 p.m. incident limited access to AutoSport, among other local businesses, authorities said. A tractor trailer that overturned Tuesday morning in Rockaway shut lanes into the afternoon. Green Pond Road was closed in both directions -- just north of Jacobs Road -- as of 4 p.m., authorities said. Motorists were urged to seek alternate routes.

Sedan Slams Into Utility Pole In Fair Lawn
No serious injuries were reported after a two-car crash sent one into a telephone pole in Fair Lawn. A Nissan Altima got the worst of it, slamming head-on into the pole on Plaza Road between Berdan Avenue and Kipp Street shortly before 1 a.m. The Altima had to be towed. 1 Extricated In Route 208 Wyckoff Rollover, Traffic Crawls
Traffic was at a stand-still along Route 208 northbound after a car veered off the roads and into the woods during Thursday. The incident occurred between Russel and Ewing avenues around 5 p.m. The road reopened about an hour later but drivers reported slow-moving traffic. The victim was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries and the car was removed by a tow truck. Michael Jannicelli also contributed to this story.

Bus Downs Utility Pole, Closes Major Roadway Between Route 17, 80 In Hackensack
A bus yanked down utility wires and snapped a pole in half in Hackensack Thursday afternoon, partially closing a major thoroughfare between Routes 17 and 80. The Camila Tours and Travel private carrier bus didn't have any passengers when it pulled out of the 7-Eleven lot on Polifly Road and snagged the wires around 2 p.m., Capt. Nicole Foley said. Overturned Tractor Trailer Spills Garbage Across Route 80 Entrance Ramp In Parsippany
Traffic was backed up along Route 80 in Parsippany Tuesday evening after a tractor trailer toppled over, spilling garbage across the entrance ramp from Route 287. Delays of 15-20 minutes were reported by 511nj.org as of 5:30 p.m. The truck overturned around 4 p.m. at exit 41, state police said. The ramp and two right lanes of Route 80 westbound were closed following the crash, 511nj.org reports. State police urged commuters to seek alternate routes. Drivers reported delays as far as Morristown.
