Hackensack's mayor is demanding an apology from a councilman accused of making racially insensitive remarks about a local soccer coach. Battaglia, at the Oct. 8 meeting, said: "I want to make it very clear I never intentionally made any kind of racial statement about any person. I've been very involved in the recreational program in t…

: Four Women Hospitalized, One Serious, From Fentanyl ODs At Riverside Square Mall
UPDATE: Four women who work at The Shops at Riverside in Hackensack were hospitalized -- one of them in serious condition -- after an apparent group drug overdose in a lower parking garage early Wednesday evening. Responders administered Narcan to five women in all -- ages 29 to 41 -- and conducted CPR on the most seriously injured victim, who'd apparently staggered toward the middle of the lot before collapsing. She remained unresponsive despite efforts to revive her -- first by passersby who include a nurse practitioner, then by police an…

They’ll work alternately for 16 days of 8-day shifts, followed by 16 days of 8-night shifts, or vice versa -- with critically consistent starting and finishing times. At the same time, “major modifications” t…

Although the person with Sims wasn’t publicly identified, various city sources said it was a female family member who doesn’t live with him who needed a document notarized. Crime Pays -- For Hackensack Police Dashcams
Money and property seized from criminals is paying to put video cameras in all 30 Hackensack Police Department patrol cars, authorities said. “This dispels false claims against police officers while serving the interests of the public,” Capt. Frank Aquila said. “Transparency is always a primary interest,” Hackensack Mayor John Labrosse added. “And what better way is there to be transparent than to monitor all traffic stops with this device? "In this day and age, where we have seen so many incidents captured on police cameras, it is best for the protection of our police officers, as we…
