Franklin Lakes House Fire Doused
Firefighters quickly extinguished a Franklin Lakes house blaze before it could do more damage. Boxes apparently caught fire in the basement of the Summit Avenue home just off Route 208 shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday, responders said. Firefighters had the flames knocked down within a half-hour, they said. The fire was declared under control minutes later. Mutual aid responders either at the scene or in coverage included firefighters from Fair Lawn, Midland Park, Ramsey, Waldwick and Wyckoff, responders said.

Passaic House Fire Doused
Friends said a woman and her teenage children lost most of their belonging when a July 4th weekend fire damaged their Passaic home. Firefighters quickly got to the Third Street address off Essex Street shortly before 8:30 p.m. and had the fire under control in barely a half-hour. They limited the fire damage to the first floor, where the blaze apparently began, and the second floor, which sustained heavy smoke damage. No injuries were reported. Residents Hospitalized With Burns In Paterson Fire
Two residents suffered burns in a mid-afternoon fire that ravaged a Paterson home, responders said. Temperatures broke 90 and the heat index reached triple figures Sunday during the fast-moving upper-floor blaze at the 2½-story wood-frame house on Madison Avenue. Firefighters were forced into an exterior attack about 45 minutes after they arrived. A neighboring home was also damaged in the three-alarmer. Firefighters Douse Overnight Closter Blaze
Closter firefighters doused an overnight house blaze. They were met by heavy fire coming from the attack of the 2½ -story wood-frame home on Jason Woods Road, just off Homans Avenue, shortly before 2 a.m. Monday. Mutual aid responders included firefighters from Demarest. All fire companies were released shortly after 4 a.m. No injuries were reported. Fire officials were trying to determine the cause. UPDATE: An elderly homeowner and her daughter's fiancé died in an overnight house fire in South Hackensack, authorities confirmed. The Agar Place fire broke out in the rear of the 1½-story home shortly after 3 a.m. and instantly spread, responders and neighbors said. An off-duty South Hackensack police sergeant who lives next door to the victims tried to extinguish the flames with a garden hose, but the blaze spread too quickly. Firefighters responding to an early Sunday night blaze limited the damage at an East Rutherford home. The first on the scene found heavy smoke in the attic from an electrical fire that ignited in the second-floor ceiling of the Vreeland Avenue home, responders said. Firefighters quickly stopped a Wednesday afternoon blaze from doing serious damage to the interior of a Fair Lawn home. The two-alarm fire severely damaged the front of the 32nd Street residence just off southbound Route 208. A dog was rescued during an early Wednesday evening house fire in Lodi. No injuries were reported in the two-alarm Harrison Avenue blaze, which broke out in a second-floor room of the brick single-family home around 5:20 p.m. Firefighters had it doused within 15 minutes. Firefighters doused an overnight house blaze in East Rutherford. The broke out on in a second-floor bathroom and pushed through the attic of the Washington Place home near Randolph Avenue shortly after 2 a.m., responders said.
