Birthday Party Fire Kills 2 Girls In Newark (

The bodies of two severely burned girls ages 6 and 8 were found at a Newark home following a fire over the weekend, officials said. Witnesses told detectives that there had been a birthday party for one of the girls on the second floor of the home and they'd been playing with fire near a couch in the hallway of the Eckert Street home on Saturday, Oct. 20, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. Firefighters responding around 12:30 a.m. found the girls unresponsive and severely burned inside. They performed CPR, but the children were reported dead at the scene, authorities said. …

Firefighters Battle Ramsey House Fire For 4 Hours
A three-alarm fire tore through a home in Bergen County Saturday night, Oct. 12, authorities said. Two people were killed in a Paterson fire early Friday, Sept. 20, authorities said. While a 28-year-old and 69-year-old man were able to escape, the bodies of two other victims were found in the home at 71 North 7th Street just after 2:30 a.m., Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Lightning Strike Causes Fire At Turtle Back Zoo, Officials Say
A North Jersey zoo erupted in flames after being struck by lightning on Wednesday, Aug. 28, officials said. West Orange responders got a call from the Turtle Back Zoo saying its Sea Turtle Recovery Building had been struck by lightning around 9:45 p.m., a spokesperson for the town said.
