T-Bone Crash In Ridgewood Sends Driver To Hospital
A driver was hospitalized after his sedan was broadsided by a Jeep in Ridgewood early Wednesday afternoon. The Cherokee driver was OK after his vehicle t-boned the Subaru Legacy at the intersection of Walthery and Linwood avenues around 1:30 p.m. Sept. 6. Ridgewood police, firefighters and EMS responded, along with a village ambulance that took the injured driver to The Valley Hospital. All Points Towing removed both vehicles. Baby On Board: 'Infantry' Rescues Woman Who Gave Birth After Crash Off Route 17
A pregnant woman being driven to the hospital gave birth after a brand-new SUV was involved in a collision just off Route 17. The driver of a work van that may have been involved in the crash off the northbound highway at Linwood Avenue immediately drove the mom, dad and child to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6. Civilian Struck, Killed By Commuter Train In Fair Lawn
A 66-year-old man was struck and killed by a commuter train Thursday night in Fair Lawn. The man was struck by an NJ Transit train just off Fair Lawn Avenue across from the Radburn station platform shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31. Witnesses said it appeared he ran in front of the express train, which didn't have a stop there. It wasn't immediately clear whether he was trying to get to the other side or not, they said. Multi-Vehicle Ridgewood Crash Sends Driver To Hospital
A missing stop sign may have contributed to a multi-vehicle crash Saturday morning in Ridgewood. One of the drivers was taken by ambulance to the Valley Hospital nearby with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening. No injuries were reported after a minivan and an SUV collided in Ridgewood. The Toyota minivan got knocked onto the sidewalk and nearly slammed into an office building on East Ridgewood Avenue at the corner of North Maple shortly before 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24. Uniform-Clad Martial Arts Instructor With 'Swords' Seen Near Fair Lawn School, Police Called
A martial arts instructor caused a bit of a stir in Fair Lawn on Wednesday when she was spotted in uniform near an elementary school carrying what turned out to be a pair of harmless swords, authorities confirmed. Police responded to a call near the Thomas Edison School on Fair Lawn Avenue at 10:15 a.m. Aug. 23 and found the 60-something woman, who apparently spoke little or no English. Ridgewood police confirmed that they're investigating a reported burglary at a downtown commercial business. Police were called to the company on East Ridgewood Avenue on Aug. 16. Ticketed Driver Dumps Full Soda Cup Into Ridgewood Parking Agent's Car, Flees, But Guess What?
A motorist who found a ticket on his illegally parked vehicle in Ridgewood dumped a full cup of soda through the open driver's side window of a nearby parking agent's vehicle on Friday. A village police officer and patrol supervisor quickly responded to the scene of the Aug. 18 afternoon incident on Chestnut Street near East Ridgewood Avenue. A water main break in Paramus on Thursday flooded part of Route 4 and closed a busy exit ramp. Construction crews working near the exit ramp for Paramus Road off the westbound highway accidentally punctured the 16-inch main shortly before noon Aug. 17. It unleashed a mini flood that filled the exit with nearly a foot of water and closed Route 4's left lane near the median. A Fair Lawn motorist was hospitalized following a Tuesday morning crash in Glen Rock, authorities said. The 38-year-old woman was driving a 2023 Toyota Camry that collided with a 2021 Chevy Tahoe driven by a 43-year-old Glen Rock woman at the intersection of Hillman Avenue and Woodvale Road near Prospect Street shortly before 10 a.m. Aug. 15, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said. A downed tree in Ridgewood on Monday knocked a transformer from a utility pole, yanked down wires, caused some area outages and generally proved to be a nuisance. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
