Man Who Left Pit Bull Pup Caged In Water Off Sandy Hook Gets Year In Prison A 36-year-old Long Branch man was sentenced to a year in state prison for leaving an 8-month-old pit bull mix locked in a cage in the rising tide of the Sandy Hook Bay, authorities said. Jurors in December convicted Aaron D. Davis of Long Branch of fourth-degree animal cruelty following a three-day trial before County Superior Court Judge Marc C. LeMieux in Freehold. The jurors acquitted him of attempting to kill the dog, who was rescued.
