POMPTON LAKES, N.J. — Two Pompton Lakes families were displaced without injury following house fires Wednesday.

The structure fire began on one house and affected the adjacent one, firefighters said.

"One of the saddest times of being a fireman is seeing the loss of residents' homes and possessions," the department said.

Mutual aid came from Riverdale, Pompton Plains, Wanaque, Wayne, Bloomingdale, Ringwood, and the PLRFAS.
