Offiers stopped the extensively damaged vehicle on Union Valley Road soon after the alleged riipoff at 9:30 p.m. in the Lakeland Plaza on southbound Route 23, Detective Sgt. Joseph Walker said.
Moment earlier, the victim told police, 24- year-old Christopher Masi of North Caldwell took money from him in exchange for drugs that he didn't produce.
Masi then joined two other people in a nearby car and they took off, Walker said.
The buyer grabbed nto a side mirror and yanked itt off the SUV, the sergeant sad.
Then the buyer’s friend -- parked in a vehicle nearby -- "intentionallky struck the seller’s vehicle with his vehicle," Walkers aid. "The buyer and his friend then fled the scene."
A description of the vehicle was broadcast, along with a partial license plate. Soon after, Officer Thomas Connors spotted the vehicle and pulled it over, Walker said.
He was ordered held on $50,000 bail in the Passaic County Jail.
Charged along with Masi were 24-year-old Christopher Masi of North Caldwell, 21-year-old Robert Tucker of North Caldwell and Lina Bachkhaz, 20, of Wayne.
Charges included conspiracy to commit robbery, aggavated assault and drug paraphernalia possession.
Receiving traffic summonses were the drier, 33-year-old Stephen Geers of Highland Lakes.
The driver whose car rammed the other vehicle was identified as 33 year old Stephen Geers of Highland Lakes. His associate received numerous motor vehicle summonses.
