Jet returns to Newark after piece falls off

An engine cover that blocks debris fell from a Jet Blue airline on takeoff from Newark Liberty International Airport, forcing the plane to come back down to the runway, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said.

The early-morning Flight 507 was headed to Fort Lauderdale when the 6:15 a.m. incident occurred. No one was injured, a Port Authority spokesman said.

Authorities said the flight should be ready to head out around 9:30 a.m.
