Astolfo G. Villamarcoello

Although Astolfo G. Villamarcoello said he didn’t know of any phone, Detective Joseph Bucco simply dialed the number — and it rang in the man’s pocket, Detective Capt. Martin Kahn told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
After realizing the phone was missing just after 6 a.m., the officer went back to the spot where he thought he might have dropped it, but it wasn’t there, Kahn said.
So he signed in to his “Find my iPhone” application.
“This is when the officer and [Bucco] realized that the phone was on the move,” Kahn said.
Bucco “was able to track the iPhone in real time” to the jitney bus 20 minutes later as it neared the corner of Kennedy Boulevard and 41st Street in North Bergen, the captain said.
Villamarcoello “denied any involvement,” Kahn said, but Bucco dialed the number.
Villamarcoello tried to run when the phone rang, but Bucco grabbed him, he said.
Villamarcoello, who is unemployed and lives on 9th Street in Fairview, has a Municipal Court appearance scheduled for Wednesday.
