A man was fatally shot in Newark on Tuesday, Jan. 7, authorities said, the second man killed by gunfire this week.
At 6:11 p.m., police responded to 397 Fairmount Ave. and located a male victim, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing, authorities said.

A 17-year-old has been charged with fatally shooting a 20-year-old in Jersey City on Friday, Jan. 3, authorities said.
At 8:30 p.m., police were called to the area of Lembeck Avenue and Old Bergen Road on reports of gunfire, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Officers found Rahmiere Morris, 20, with a gunshot wound to his torso, Suarez said.
Morris was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 9:35 p.m., Suarez said.
