Unlicensed Operator Busted On Stolen Moped In Bergen County, Police Say
A 41-year-old Irvington man is facing charges out of Lyndhurst for operating a stolen moped without a license, police said. Lt. Paul Haggerty saw the gas-powered moped operating without a license plate at Riverside and Post Avenues just before 11 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 2, Lyndhurst Police Detective Lt. Vincent Auteri said. Haggerty followed the moped and stopped it, then asked the operator, identified as Mario Franseca, for his credentials, police said. A 54-mile pursuit through North Jersey in a stolen box truck ended when the vehicle ran out of gas and police found the driver with heroin Labor Day Weekend, authorities said. Unlicensed Belleville Man Busted On Stolen Moped In Lyndhurst: Police
A 48-year-old Belleville man was arrested in Lyndhurst after police caught him on a stolen moped without a license. Lyndhurst Officer Anthony Morreale was on patrol near Riverside Avenue and Valley Brook Avenue when he saw a moped cruising south on Riverside Avenue without a license plate on Monday, Aug. 26, Lyndhurst Police Detective Lt. Vincent Auteri said. Morreale proceeded to follow the moped before executing a traffic stop.
