A 57-year-old Guatemalan man living in New Jersey has been charged with lying to federal officials in an attempt to gain custody of two unaccompanied migrant children, authorities said.

A Morris County man admitted to threatening to kill a political commentator in an online video and group message, federal officials said.
Haim Braverman, 47, of Morris Plains, pleaded guilty in Newark federal court to transmitting threats in interstate commerce, U.S. Attorney Alina Habba announced Tuesday, May 6. He entered the plea before U.S. District Judge Evelyn Padin. Sentencing is set for Sept. 15, 2025.

A 62-year-old Bergen County man has been arrested for possessing sexually explicit images of prepubescent children, Prosecutor Mark Musella announced.
Kurt A. Hildenbrand, 62, was taken into custody on Friday, May 2, in Paramus, following an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit and the FBI.
