Tornado Risk, 70 MPH Winds, 100° Heat: NJ Braces for Explosive Weather Outbreak (Timing)
New Jersey is facing a one-two weather punch Thursday, June 19 (Juneteenth): dangerous heat and the threat of severe storms, the National Weather Service warns.
High temperatures in the low 90s, paired with tropical humidity, could push the heat index to 100 degrees across much of the state, especially south of I-78, according to the Mount Holly Forecast Office. Conditions are expected to peak Thursday, June 19, between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, for parts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania, the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center said.
Residents in Philadelphia, Trenton, Allentown, Reading, and across North and Central Jersey are impacted, the NWS said.
“Isolated thunderstorms have developed over portions of the region,” the National Weather Service said in a Tuesday afternoon update. “The primary threat will be for hail and damaging winds across eastern PA and northern/central NJ.”

Hundreds Without Power In NJ, More Storms Possible Late In The Day
Thousands of New Jersey residents woke up Monday morning, Aug. 19 without power due to Sunday's storm.
And according to the National Weather Service, more stormy weather could be on the way for later in the day.
As of 6:40 a.m., JCP&L was reporting the most outages with the following areas without power: Clinton, 880; Branchville, 150; Hopatcong, 215; Long Branch/Asbury Park, 350; Lakewood, 265.

Another round of heat and storms is on deck for the Northeast, starting now, forecasters say.
The beginning of the week will start out hot with a chance of storms in the late-afternoon and evening, however, the highest chance of severe weather comes mid-week, AccuWeather says.
