A 29-year-old Somerset man was arrested and charged after he was caught stealing cooking oil from a pizzeria in Flanders on Saturday, March 8, authorities said. At 10:16 a.m., officers were investigating a report of a suspect driving a white van who was attempting to take cooking oil from businesses, Mount Olive police said. Officers located a van matching the description behind Frank’s Pizza at the Mall at 206, police said. A Long Valley man was charged with driving while intoxicated and child neglect after nearly colliding with a police cruiser at the ITC Mall Complex in Flanders last week. The incident occurred on Friday, Nov. 22, 2024, at 12:04 a.m., when Sgt. Tyler Mullooly observed a Honda minivan cross the center line near Famous Footwear, narrowly missing his patrol vehicle, police said. Sgt. Charges have been filed against a 41-year-old man who police say was going 90 mph before a crash that killed an 18-year-old pre-med student in Morris County, officials announced. An 18-year-old Flanders resident has been identified as the victim killed in a two-car crash in Roxbury last month, authorities said. Jacob Davis was heading south on Howard Boulevard in a 2019 Mazda 3 in the collision with a northbound 2021 Chevrolet Silverado, around 10:30 p.m. Friday, May 31, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said.
