A 27-year-old pilot masterfully landed a small plane on Loudoun County Parkway Friday, Jan. 19, officials said. Ahmed Awais, of Florida, was headed to Lancaster Airport in PA, and had just departed from Dulles Airport with Southern Airways Express Flight 246, when the plane went down in the DIREX lanes near Arcola Mills Drive, around 12:15 p.m., according to the FAA and local authorities. A New Jersey couple was killed in a crash in Virginia last week, according to their obituaries and news reports. Corey Wetmore, 28, of Brick Township, and Brittany Forsythe, 26, of Browns Mills, both died in the Halifax County crash on Wednesday, Nov. 15, Virginia State Police said. Wetmore was heading south in a 2006 GMC Envoy on a Virginia street around 8:15 p.m., when the vehicle ran off the right shoulder, State Police said. Police have identified the driver of a vehicle who died in a crash last week on the Capital Beltway with a tractor trailer, whose operator will not be charged, they said. Nicole M. Lewis, 40, of Dumfries, was operating a 1998 Honda Accord slowly, partially in the right shoulder and partially in the right travel lane around 12:20 a.m. Nov. 9 in Fairfax County, Virginia State Police said. A 28-year-old woman from South Jersey was killed in an out-of-state crash earlier this week, authorities said. Hasina K. Camacho-Prather was driving southbound on Route 29 in Nelson County, Virginia, when the fatal single-car crash occurred about 7 a.m. Tuesday, according to Virginia State Police. South Jersey Man, 32, Killed In Virginia Crash
A 32-year-old man from Camden County was killed in a single-vehicle wreck early Friday on Interstate 95 in Virginia, authorities said. Virginia State Police were called at 6:20 a.m. to investigate a wreck on the southbound lane of I-95. Officers found critically injured Daniel L. Ware of Sicklerville trapped inside his vehicle, police said. Ware was med-lifted to a VCU medical facility.
