Child Dies Days After CDC Issues Nationwide Alert For Mysterious Hepatitis Outbreak
Just days after the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention issued a national alert to doctors over a mystery hepatitis outbreak, the death of a child has now been confirmed, the World Health Organization announced. At least 169 cases have now been reported in the United States and 11 other countries, the WHO said, adding that the cases range from those in the ages of 1 month to 16 years old. There's a bird flu outbreak in the United States, but so far only wild ducks have been infected in New Jersey, specifically in Cape May, authorities said. A Philadelphia man was slapped with charges after pretending to be a federal immigration officer and swindling thousands of dollars from a victim in Mercer County, authorities said Thursday. Leroy Quammie was using the pseudonym “Dill” when posing as a federal officer and “promising to expedite matters involving citizenship status within the United States” on Friday, Jan. 21, Hamilton Police said. A company has recalled some of its deodorant products due to unexpected levels of a carcinogen. TCP HOT Acquisition LLC dba HRB Brands recalled "Sure" and "Brut" branded aerosol spray deodorants with expiration dates on or before August 2023, according to an announcement on Wednesday, Feb. 16.
