NJ Man Sues FanDuel
A Bergen County man has filed a lawsuit against online sports betting website FanDuel alleging the company breached its own policy and failed to pay him his full winnings after he pulled out of an active bet. Michael Wadlow, 35, of Upper Saddle River (and soon Ramsey), filed the suit on Oct. 4 in New Jersey Superior Court alleging he self-excluded from a bet with a $5,800 cash-out option and was only refunded his inital $500 wager. MLB Suspends Former Jersey Shore HS Star For Betting On Baseball Games
A minor league pitcher from the Jersey Shore was suspended for a year for betting on Major League Baseball games, officials said. Barnegat native Jay Groome was among five players punished under MLB's sports betting rules and policies, the league said in a news release on Tuesday, June 4. Groome made three starts in the 2024 season for the El Paso Chihuahuas, the Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres. Trackside Sportsbook With Shake Shack Coming To Monmouth Park In 2025
A Monmouth County horse track has begun a large expansion project to keep up with the growth of the sports gambling industry. Monmouth Park and Caesars Entertainment have started building a new trackside sportsbook and entertainment complex, according to a news release. A groundbreaking ceremony was held at the Oceanport track on Tuesday, May 7. The new facility is expected to open in 2025 with 16,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space for watching sports.
