UPDATE: The body of a New Milford High School senior was removed from a borough pond hours after what witnesses said was a tragic accident. Clinten Ajit, 18, was apparently doing a good deed when he went into the Hard Castle Pond behind the Dorchester Manor Apartments near the borough athletic fields around 7:15 p.m. Friday, April 22. ALARM: Report Of Gunman On Loose In New Milford Unfounded
A report of a gunman in camo pants and a hoodie on the loose in New Milford -- which triggered a lockdown of all borough schools Thursday morning -- thankfully was proven unfounded, Police Chief Brian Clancy said. Woman Escapes Violent New Milford Sex Abuser Who Threatened To Kill Her, Prosecutor Says
A violent New Milford ex-con sexually and physically assaulted a woman -- holding her against her will and threatening to kill her -- before she managed to escape, authorities said. Matthew Harries, 29, remained held Saturday in the Bergen County Jail awaiting a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack following his arrest by borough police, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.
