A 19-year veteran police officer with the Long Branch Police Department has been suspended without pay after being arrested for operating a methamphetamine lab at his home, authorities said. Christopher Walls, 50, of West End Avenue was charged on Sunday with various offenses related to manufacturing and maintaining a meth laboratory at his home, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Central Jersey Dad Indicted For Smothering His 6-Week-Old Baby, Prosecutor Says
A Monmouth County grand jury has indicted a 23-year-old man in the smothering death of his baby girl, authorities said. Austin Meli, a 23-year-old resident of Wall Township, was indicted on Friday for murder and endangering the welfare of a child in the death of his 6-week-old daughter, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni. Meli already is in state prison on separate charges that he physically abused the girl's older brother. US Marshals Arrest Suspect in 11-Year-Old Central Jersey Murder Case
A 31-year-old man from Monmouth County has been arrested by U.S. Marshals in a murder case that has remained unsolved for 11 years, authorities said. Christopher Willis of Long Branch has been charged with first-degree murder related to the death of Norberto Nieves, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni. On Nov. 29, 2009, Nieves, 36, also of Long Branch, was shot and killed near 136 7th Avenue, authorities said. The initial investigation did not yield any arrests, Gramiccioni said on Thursday.
