UPDATE: An elite law enforcement team captured a 24-year-old local man on Monday who authorities said broke in and trashed the Center for Islamic Life at Rutgers University in New Brunswick earlier this month. Jacob Beacher was due for an initial afternoon appearance on federal hate crime charges in U.S. District Court in Newark on April 22. Some parts of South Jersey received more than half a foot of snow during a pre-Valentine's Day winter storm. The National Weather Service said snow stopped falling in the region at around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13. While it wasn't as much as North Jersey, plenty of communities saw significant accumulation. Twin $10K Mega Millions Tickets Sold In NJ
A pair of $10,000 Mega Millions tickets were sold in New Jersey last week. The tickets from the Tuesday, Nov. 14 drawing were sold at the Country Farm in Southampton (Burlington), and the Krauszer’s in Metuchen. NJ Woman, 72, Indicted For Using Dead Caregiver's Info To Keep Collecting Insurance Payments
A 72-year-old New Jersey woman used phony timesheets and a bogus bank account from a dead caregiver to fraudulently collect insurance payments for long-term care from him, state authorities charged. Leoncia Hutchinson of Metuchen deposited the payments from the Continental Casualty Company into a dedicated account, then slid the funds back into her own, an indictment returned by a grand jury in Trenton alleges. A New Jersey service station manager admitted stealing $78,000 from more than 17 customers, including Amtrak, through bogus charges for gas, federal authorities said.
