Man Convicted Of Killing Ex-Girlfriend In South Jersey
A 72-year-old Atlantic City man was found guilty of murdering a 32-year-old ex-girlfriend in 2020, authorities said.
A jury returned guilty verdicts Friday, March 10 in the trial of Maximo Santiago, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
Santiago was convicted of Murder, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Certain Person Not to Possess a Weapon, after a weeklong trial.
Following an argument, on Sept. 12, 2020 Santiago shot and killed Marketa Thorpe, 32, with a rifle on Belfield Avenue in Atlantic City, the prosecutor said.

A woman has been charged with vehicular homicide and assault by auto in a June 2020 crash that left a New Jersey police officer heading home from work dead.
Taquaysha Bell, 29, of Trenton, was heading west on White Horse Pike on June 19, when she swerved into oncoming traffic and struck a vehicle head-on, Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary Shill announced.

South Jersey Man Indicted For Beating Wife Dead With Hammer
A South Jersey ma has been indicted in connection with last summer's alleged beating death of his 30-year-old wife, authorities said.
An Atlantic County Grand Jury returned an indictment on a first-degree murder charge against Robert Declementi, 37, of Brigantine, according to Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary Shill.
Brigantine police received a 9-1-1 call at 4:27 a.m. on Aug. 22, 2020, and responded to 17 Girard Place, Shill said.
