A driver for a local teen treatment facility sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl before she locked herself in a Dunkin' Donuts bathroom on Route 17 and got help, authorities said. Police found the girl after a security guard called them to the donut shop on southbound Route 17 in Hasbrouck Heights shortly before 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 4. A child in her pajamas was found alone and shivering on a busy Hasbrouck Heights street corner Friday morning, authorities said. Officers responding to multiple calls on Jan. 27 found the unaccompanied 5-year-old at the corner of Jefferson Avenue and Terrace Avenue, Hasbrouck Heights Police Lt. John A. Behr said. An ex-con was captured by Hasbrouck Heights police after he blasted a motorcyclist and two good Samaritans with bear spray in a violent robbery attempt, authorities said. The concerned citizens came running after seeing Jared Stun knock the motorcyclist to the ground in an attempt to steal his bike outside Cycle Gear on southbound Route 17 shortly before 5 p.m. Friday, Police Sgt. A disturbed man who threatened to kill minorities at a New Jersey mall was charged with making terroristic threats and held for a psychiatric evaluation, authorities said. Frank Passaro, 66, of Hasbrouck Heights wasn't carrying any weapons when Paramus police arrested him without incident in the north parking garage at the Garden State Plaza early Friday afternoon, Feb. 18, Hasbrouck Heights Police Capt. A Hasbrouck Heights man who works at a retail garden center is accused of sexually abusing a minor in two states. Cheldon Clare, 42, of Prospect Street, remained held Tuesday in the Bergen County Jail following his arrest late last week. “The sexual abuse was alleged to have occurred in Hasbrouck Heights and in Massachusetts,” Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.
