Stranger In Hazmat Suit Who Sprayed Plants At Glen Rock Florist ID'd As NY State Resident
UPDATE: One person's prank is another's vandalism, as a New York State man learned when police in Glen Rock identified him as the stranger in a hazmat suit who sprayed plants and flowers at a local shop with an unknown substance. Robert X. Houston, 22, of Middletown, claimed that he pulled the stunt at Perry’s Florist & Gardens on Harristown Road in January as part of an effort to establish himself as a YouTube personality, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said. Houston told police there were no chemicals or other substances in the hand-held sprayer, but Ackermann said more than $750 wo…

Again? Amazon Van Gets Wedged Under Glen Rock Building
We need just one more to have a trend: For the second time in a couple of months, a delivery van got wedged beneath the same Glen Rock office building. Several sprinkler heads were destroyed and a piece of the ceiling was ripped off Thursday when the rental truck, begin used for Amazon Prime deliveries, got stuck under the Harristown Road building off Lincoln Avenue. A City Wide tower let the air out of the tires before driving the van out. Amazon workers then offloaded packages onto another van. Glen Rock police and firefighters also responded. Remember: One is a freak accident, t…

An officer responding to a report of “several loud bangs” that shook homes Saturday on Romary Court heard a series of explosions, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said. “However, they appeared to be coming from a distance away,” he said. Backup officers, firefighters and PSE&G crews converged on the neighborhood off Harristown Road. Surrounding towns were also notified. The utility workers “…

Bergen Exec From Passaic County Admits $91.5 Million Bank Fraud, Questions Remain
Now that an executive of a Glen Rock property management company has admitted his role in a $91.5 million loan fraud, questions remain about an "unnamed co-conspirator." Barton Schack, 65, of Ringwood, told a federal judge in Newark this week that he helped the other participant fraudulently secure a massive commercial mortgage loan by lying about how many tenants were in a network of medical office buildings used as collateral and how much rent they’d paid, Acting U.S. Attorney Rachael A. Honig said. The pair then pocketed millions of dollars in rent from the properties -- which …
