: Traveler From CT Admiring View Falls 60 Feet Down Palisades
A man apparently admiring the view from atop the cliffs near the George Washington Bridge fell nearly 60 feet, authorities said after he was rescued by rappellers. The 38-year-old victim from Manchester, CT had walked to the edge to take photos near the Mobil service station off the northbound Palisades Interstate Parkway in Englewood Cliffs when he lost his footing shortly after 7 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, a woman who described herself as his girlfriend told police. 1-Year-Old Bergen County Baby Severely Burned By Scalding Coffee
A 1-year-old boy was severely burned when he pulled a cup of scalding hot coffee from the top of a TV in the family living room, Garfield police said. The boy suffered second-degree burns on his upper right chest and upper right shoulder in the 8:45 a.m. accident Wednesday on Malcolm Avenue, Capt. Mario Pozo said. Old Tappan Boy, 2, Dies From Drowning
UPDATE: A 2-year-old Old Tappan boy who was pulled from a backyard swimming pool died despite furious efforts to save his life, authorities said Friday. "They worked on him in the ER for 20 minutes before pronouncing him" at Hackensack University Medical Center, a responder said. Responding police officers conducted CPR and got a pulse after the boy was pulled from the pool around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, they said. It wasn't immediately clear how long he'd been in the water.
