NJ's Top Cop Orders Extra Security For Schools Following Texas Massacre
Acting New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin ordered State Police and all 21 county prosecutors Tuesday night to immediately boost law enforcement presence at schools statewide following the Texas massacre. Over 80 children worldwide— between the ages of six and 13-years-old— were groomed by a California man to produce child porn— including five children from New Jersey, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said. Bird Flu Has Landed In NJ
There's a bird flu outbreak in the United States, but so far only wild ducks have been infected in New Jersey, specifically in Cape May, authorities said. While the outbreak is driving up the price of eggs and chicken nationwide, properly cooked foul is harmless to humans even when it's infected by the flu, agriculture experts say. The current bird flu outbreak, first reported in a commercial turkey flock in Indiana, is considered the worst since 2015. Hundreds of pounds of a popular beef jerky product sold in eight states — including New Jersey — are being jerked from shelves due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Lodi Firefighter, 48, Dies On Vacation
What began as a holiday trip ended tragically for a beloved Lodi firefighter, his fellow first responders and loved ones. Antonio Mercado III died in a Texas hospital on Monday after being admitted several days earlier, friends and fellow firefighters said. 500 Saliva Samples From Maryland

19 Testing Site Expire
Retesting was needed for nearly 500 people whose saliva samples taken at a Maryland testing site had expired, local health officials said. The 471 PCR tests taken on Jan. 10 at Ripken Stadium were sent to a backup lab in Texas after the Harford County Health Department's primary lab had a COVID-19 outbreak, officials told multiple news outlets. By the time the tests arrived at the backup lab, they had expired, the outlet said. Rapid tests were not impacted. Anyone who was tested at the Ripken Stadium testing site on Jan. 10 is urged to get retested.
