A 35-year-old Atlantic City man was sentenced to 70 years in New Jersey State Prison for the high school football game shooting where a 10-year-old bystander was killed, authorities said. Man Convicted In Pleasantville HS Football Game Shooting, Killing 10-Year-Old Spectator
A 35-year-old Atlantic City man has been convicted of murder in a Pleasantville High School football game shooting that killed a 10-year-old boy and wounded two other spectators, authorities said. Alvin Wyatt was convicted on Thursday, July 27, after a five-day jury trial, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. In addition to the murder conviction, the jury convicted Wyatt of two counts of attempted murder, unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, and certain persons not to possess firearms, the prosecutor said. The 43-year-old gunman who killed three students and wounded five at Michigan State University before turning the gun on himself Monday, Feb. 13 appears to have New Jersey ties. The shooter was identified by MSU Interim Deputy Chief Chris Rozman as Anthony McRae. According to a report by the New York Post and her obituary, McRae's late mother was born and lived in Trenton. Central Jersey School District To Hire Armed Retired Officers Following Uvalde Massacre
One New Jersey school district will be hiring armed retired police at all of its buildings for the rest of the school year and next, following the horrific Uvalde, TX massacre, NJ Advance Media reported.
