NJ Town's Mayor Charged In High School Parking Lot Incident
The mayor of one New Jersey town is facing weapons offenses for an incident that happened in a high school parking lot, police said. Linwood police released a statement saying only that Erland V. Chau, 72, was charged with harassment, disorderly conduct, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose stemming from an incident in the Mainland Regional High School on Oct. 1. Substitute Teacher Gave Fake ID At South Jersey Middle School, Police Say
An Egg Harbor Township woman was accused of giving false identification when she arrived at a school to be a substitute teacher, authorities said. Katherine MacPherson, 35, was arrested on Monday, Sept. 9, the Egg Harbor Township Police Department said in a news release. Officers received a call from school district security about a female substitute teacher at Alder Avenue Middle School with a seemingly fraudulent teacher identification. A 16-year-old Pleasantville girl was arrested on charges she assaulted a police officer and school security officer during a fight at an Egg Harbor Township High School football game, authorities said. Trenton police are on the lookout for a 19-year-old student who brought a gun to school and fled after scuffling with a security officer, authorities said. A 13-year-old student was charged with slashing another girl's face during a fight at the Middle School of Pleasantville, authorities said. Police increased security at Howell High School on Wednesday after a student posted a photo of a rifle on Snapchat, authorities said. A student was arrested Tuesday for allegedly posting the photo and threatening remarks.
