NJ Transit, Amtrak Delays Derail Return To Work: 'Another Stellar Day On The Rails'
The post-Thanksgiving return to work turned into a nightmare for NJ Transit and Amtrak commuters Monday morning, Dec. 2, as overhead wire issues near Newark Penn Station triggered widespread delays and frustration. Starting around 8:45 a.m., North Jersey Coast Line and Northeast Corridor services were suspended in both directions, while Raritan Valley Line trains into and out of Penn Station New York faced delays of up to 60 minutes, NJ Transit said. NJ Transit Train Strikes Car On Jersey Shore
A New Jersey Transit train struck a car on the Jersey Shore, authorities said. At 7:32 a.m., North Jersey Coast Line train 3224 crashed into the car at the Bethany Road crossing in Hazlet. The car's motorist was not hurt. No injuries were reported to the approximately 150 customers or the crew on board at the time. The train departed Long Branch at 7:10 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Penn Station New York at 8:41 a.m. Customers from train 3224 were being transferred to a following train. New Jersey Transit Police are on scene leading the investigation.

Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Train In Princeton
A pedestrian was struck and killed by a train in Princeton Friday, Nov. 4, authorities said. Northeast Corridor train 3953, which had left form Penn station New York, struck the victim around 6:35 p.m. at Princeton Junction station, NJ Transit officials said. No injuries were reported to the customers or the crew on board. Northeast Corridor service was temporarily suspended in both directions but has since resumed. Amtrak police were leading the investigation with assistance from New Jersey Transit Police.
