UPDATE: A New Jersey police officer did nothing wrong in pursuing a stolen motorcycle whose driver ended up dying in a subsequent crash, a grand jury has ruled. Despite the obvious circumstances, state law and administrative guidelines required New Jersey Attorney Matthew Platkin to investigate the death last April 20 of John R. Nutt, 41, of Mount Laurel because a law enforcement officer was involved. A motorcyclist was killed and a passenger seriously injured in a crash following an attempted police stop in South Jersey, authorities said. The crash occurred on Route 687 West after a Pemberton Township police officer tried to stop the cyclist, who crashed into a civilian's vehicle near the intersection of Davis Street in Pemberton shortly after 5:16 p.m. last Thursday, April 20, New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin said. South Jersey Fire Guts Former College Building
Rowan College's former campus in Pemberton Township was ravaged by a fire, authorities said. The two-alarm fire broke out Wednesday, April 12 at the vacated campus’ former Academic Building on Pemberton Browns Mills Road, according to Pemberton Township police. At about 6:20 a.m., firefighters found a blaze in a classroom and the lobby of the first floor of the former college building, police said. Smoke spread throughout the building. South Jersey Men Arrested On Child Pornography Charges: Prosecutor
Authorities in Burlington County announced a pair of arrests for the possession of child pornography. Roger A. Eichinger, 58, of Browns Mills, was charged with third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, according to Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina and Pemberton Township Police Chief Jason Watters. Eichinger was taken into custody on Feb. 1 and released following a first appearance in Superior Court in Mount Holly.
